The phenomenon known as Trump Derangement Syndrome has been likened to a potent addiction.
Much like substance abusers, those afflicted with TDS, predominantly liberals within the mainstream media, seem to require increasingly potent doses of anti-Trump rhetoric to achieve the same level of satisfaction.
This Tuesday, HuffPost, a well-known liberal news outlet, catered to this insatiable craving for escalated Trump disdain by publishing a headline that was deemed so "dangerous" that it led social media users to alert both the FBI and the Secret Service. The headline read, "Supreme Court Gives Joe Biden The Legal OK To Assassinate Donald Trump."
On Monday, the Supreme Court issued a ruling that subtly acknowledged the immunity of a president from criminal prosecution for official acts. This essentially means that a president need not fear the intimidation and retribution tactics currently being used against Trump by operatives of the Democratic Party when performing official duties.
While the ruling did not explicitly exonerate Trump, it did impose certain requirements on lower courts that will likely delay the prosecution of his ongoing felony cases, including those related to his justified protest against the controversial and "rigged" 2020 presidential election.
Even Trump's conviction on May 30th, in a trial that was purely politically motivated and exploited for political gain by the deteriorating President Joe Biden and his irrational surrogates, will experience a sentencing delay due to the Supreme Court's ruling. This news led to an explosive reaction from unhinged Democrats.
In response to this, HuffPost simply followed the lead of party leaders and escalated the anti-Trump rhetoric. However, users on social media platform X took issue with the violent headline and tagged federal authorities.
One user wrote, "This is the most dangerous headline in American history," while another urged, "@fbi the @HuffPost is threatening President Trump. Do your job and investigate immediately."
Prominent conservative accounts also took notice. An account named "End Wokeness," with over 2.6 million followers, tagged the Secret Service, stating, "CC: @SecretService. PS: Delete your joke of news site."
Conservative commentator Rogan OHandley summarized the situation in a post to his 1.5 million followers on X, stating, "Anyone calling for Biden to use lethal military force against Trump is effectively calling for Trumps assassination. Report them to X and proper law enforcement authorities. These Marxists are getting desperate and violent."
The disdain for Trump, which permeates the entire establishment, including the media, began with simple mockery and a fabricated Russia collusion hoax. Eight years later, the thrill from those early lies has dissipated, and these desperate establishment junkies are seeking a new high, leading to public references to assassination.
The question remains: how far might they go to satiate their Trump-hating addiction? Without intervention, it's impossible to predict.
However, one thing is clear. The HuffPost headline represents the extreme limit of what any peace-loving society can tolerate in its political rhetoric.
