Debate Fallout Has No End In Sight: Fauci Deflects, White House Denies

In a recent turn of events, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has come forward to defend President Joe Biden's widely criticized debate performance.

Fauci attributed the President's lackluster showing to a "bad night," hinting at the possibility of a reaction to cold medicine.

According to The Post Millennial, Fauci's comments starkly contrasted with those of White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. Jean-Pierre categorically denied that the President was under the influence of any cold medications during the debate.

When asked by Major Garrett, host of CBS' The Takeout, whether anything about Biden's performance had medically alarmed him, Fauci remained noncommittal. He suggested that providing a medical analysis based on a single appearance would be "inappropriate." He further elaborated, "when you're just looking at someone on a one-shot basis, you just don't know what could happen."

Fauci continued to speculate on the potential reasons behind Biden's performance. "Did he have a bad cold? Did he take an antihistamine to make him groggy or what have you? We don't know what went on, and I think it would be unfair and inappropriate to try and diagnose something from just a 90-minute clip," he said.

Despite the debate debacle, Fauci praised Biden's analytical skills and calm demeanor. "He's very probing with his questions, very analytical, very calm about things," Fauci said. "When you go into brief him, you better know your topic because he's gonna ask you very relevant questions."

Meanwhile, during a White House press briefing, Jean-Pierre was questioned about Biden's potential use of cold medications. She firmly stated, "He was not taking any cold medication. I've asked his doctor and that's what he stated to us."

The President's debate performance has sparked a wave of criticism from all political quarters, leading to speculation about his potential withdrawal from the race. However, the White House has categorically denied these rumors, stating that Biden has no plans to step down, despite reports of him discussing the matter with a key ally. This development underscores the ongoing political tension and the critical role of public appearances in shaping political narratives.
