WATCH: Andrew Cuomo RIPS Into Bidens Immigration Policy With Bill Maher

In a recent episode of "Real Time with Bill Maher," former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo made an unexpected appearance, where he expressed his candid views on President Biden's policies, the Democratic Party, and even defended former President Donald Trump.

This surprising turn of events was reported by RedState.

Cuomo, a Democrat, did not mince his words when discussing Biden's immigration policy, which he deemed a mistake. "His [Biden] immigration policy was a mistake. How you do it makes all the difference in the world. To just open the borders with no plan, you don't know where they go, you don't know who's going to pay for them. Who did you even help?" he questioned.

The former governor also pointed out that New York's leaders, including Mayor Adams and Governor Hochul, could have objected to the open border policy. However, they chose to welcome all, aligning with the city's left-leaning ideology. Cuomo emphasized the lack of a concrete plan to handle the influx of immigrants, which has now reached 200,000.

Cuomo's critique of the Democratic Party's immigration policies was not limited to the federal level. He also criticized New York's approach, which welcomed immigrants without a proper plan in place. This resulted in the city being overwhelmed when Texas Governor Greg Abbott sent some immigrants to New York, which had declared itself a sanctuary city.

The former governor's critique extended to Biden's campaign strategy. When asked by Maher if he thought Biden was running a good campaign, Cuomo responded, "I don't think he's running an especially good campaign, frankly. I think there's a big question that he has to answer which is about his age, viability, et cetera. I think the only way you answer that is by getting out there, and letting people see you. That's the only way you put it to rest. I don't think you can hide from that, Bill."

Cuomo's comments suggest that the Democrats may be trying to limit Biden's public appearances and speeches, possibly to cover up any mistakes or gaffes. However, Cuomo warned that this strategy could backfire, as the COVID-19 pandemic is no longer a valid excuse to keep Biden away from the public eye.

In a surprising twist, Cuomo defended Trump in relation to the New York hush money trial. He expressed his belief that the civil fraud case brought by Attorney General Letitia James should never have been initiated. "That case, the attorney general's case in New York, frankly, should have never been brought. If his name was not Donald Trump and if he wasn't running for president. I'm the former AG in New York. I'm telling you, that case would have never been brought. And that's what is offensive to people. And it should be, because if there is anything left, it's belief in the justice system," Cuomo stated.

Cuomo's candid remarks may fall on deaf ears within the Democratic Party, which seems to believe it is on the right track. However, with polls showing widespread disapproval of Biden and his policies, the party may be in for a rude awakening come November if it does not reassess its strategies and policies. Cuomo's comments serve as a reminder that even within the same party, there can be divergent views on policy and strategy, highlighting the importance of open dialogue and critique in a functioning democracy.
