Wife Speaks Out After Texas Couple's Dream Vacation Turns DEADLY

In a tragic turn of events, a Texas couple's dream vacation in Mexico turned into a nightmare, culminating in the death of Jorge Zambrano and the serious injury of his wife, Lizette Zambrano.

The couple was electrocuted at a resort in the Mexican town of Puerto Peasco, a calamity that Lizette Zambrano believes could have been averted.

According to ABC News, Lizette Zambrano, in her first public statement since the incident, expressed her grief and disbelief over the loss of her husband. I feel that this could have been prevented, she said, her voice choked with emotion. I still can't believe it. A very good man was taken away.

Lizette Zambrano is now pursuing legal action against the resort, alleging that faulty wiring led to a live current flowing into the water, resulting in the fatal incident. She is seeking accountability for the tragedy that befell her and her husband. I want somebody to take accountability for what happened to my husband and myself, she stated during an interview on Good Morning America.

She recounted the horrifying moment of the incident, The last thing I remember him saying is 'Oh s---.' And it's the same time that I felt the first electric shock and then it happened over and over and over and I didn't hear him again.

The lawsuit further alleges that the rescue efforts were hindered due to the electric current passing through the metal objects, shocking the rescuers. A lot of people jumped in, but they kept jumping out because the shocks were so strong, Zambrano recalled.

After being pulled out of the hot tub without a pulse, Lizette Zambrano was resuscitated and airlifted to a hospital where she eventually regained consciousness. The lawsuit is seeking $1 million in damages from Casago, the vacation rental facilitator, alleging that Jorge was electrocuted and drowned for 10 minutes without any attempt by the defendants to activate the emergency shut-off for the jacuzzi.

Casago, however, has refuted all allegations of responsibility. They stated that the Sonoran Sea is a condo resort and the homeowners association is responsible for all common areas, including the maintenance of the swimming pool, hot tubs, and grounds. Casago, a vacation rental company, is not involved in any management or maintenance of the resort.

The lawyer representing Zambrano questioned the resort's safety measures, asking, What policies, policies and procedures do they have in place? And what's the point of those policies and procedures if they're not doing anything to enact them?

ABC News reached out to the homeowner's association for a comment but received no response.

While incidents of electric shock are uncommon, experts advise that if you suspect you are being shocked while in water, it is crucial to move away from the source and exit the water immediately, avoiding contact with metal railings or ladders which may intensify the shock.
