Eduardo Sarabia, a 39-year-old transient and illegal immigrant from Mexico, has been apprehended by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, as reported by Fox 11.
Sarabia, accused of being a serial rapist, was detained on Monday, following allegations of operating a so-called "rape dungeon on wheels".
Sarabia faces charges of two counts of forcible rape, which reportedly occurred on May 12 and May 13. The arrest was made after two sheriff's deputies allegedly discovered Sarabia in the act of sexually assaulting a victim in his van, parked off Highway 39 near Azusa in the Angeles National Forest.
Fox 11 sources described Sarabia's van as a "rape dungeon on wheels", allegedly equipped for the purpose of sexual assault. The 2015 Ford Transit van, which lacks windows in the rear, is currently under 24-hour surveillance after being seized by authorities.
Sarabia, confirmed as a non-citizen from Mexico, is currently held in jail without bail, with his next court appearance scheduled for June. The date of Sarabia's illegal entry into the United States remains unknown.
Local resident Anna Duenas expressed her relief at Sarabia's arrest, stating, "Its scary. Its not safe, you know I have kids and it worries me. Its really scary and Im glad hes been caught. Im glad that its over with him.
Details regarding the two alleged victims have not been disclosed by the police. However, due to the nature of the crimes, deputies are on the lookout for potential additional victims. The Special Victims Bureau's tip line is open for anyone with information about possible further victims.
