In a recent episode of HBO's "Club Random," comedian Bill Burr took host Bill Maher to task over his stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Maher, known for his controversial viewpoints, had previously claimed to have the solution to the ongoing war.
Maher defended Israel's actions as "hard-nosed decisions" in response to a brutal attack by Hamas on October 7. He further lauded himself for his "bravery" in supporting Israel's right to self-defense against terrorist attacks.
Burr, however, took a different stance, stating, "Im on the side of the kids." Maher attempted to counter this by stating, "Yeah, thats easy to say. You know, no one wants to see kids dead. This is a war"
Burr interrupted him, saying, "Thats very brave of you to say." Maher insisted he was the one being brave, to which Burr retorted, "Oh, pat yourself on the back."
Maher continued his argument, stating, "Its easy to say, Im for the kids. Whos not for the kids? When it comes down to real, hard-nosed decisions" Burr cut him off again, saying, "Oh, stop talking like youre a general."
Maher argued that the conflict could be resolved by refraining from attacking Israel. Burr questioned why war was still considered a legal option, to which Maher responded that policies needed to be "actually enforced" by world leaders.
Maher has been vocal in his criticism of anti-Israel protesters, particularly those who have attempted to occupy college campuses to demand that universities divest from Israel. He has repeatedly accused these protesters of aligning themselves with Hamas, and has criticized their "narcissism" as they barricade buildings at Columbia University, block traffic, and violate university rules.
