In a recent development, an 18-year-old alleged gunman, Armonte Moody, was released from jail on bail by Judge Lloyd U.
Nolan Jr., a magistrate judge in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Moody, who is accused of firing 26 rounds from an AR-15 at a vehicle carrying four individuals in a D.C. neighborhood, has been remanded to house arrest.
Judge Nolan Jr. has been linked to progressive causes, with his social media history revealing his support for these movements. Notably, he has made contributions to Gideons Promise, a charity organization associated with billionaire Democratic donor George Soros. The organization, founded by Professor Jonathan Rippling in 2007, is committed to providing exceptional legal representation to ensure 'equal justice for all' in the criminal justice system, as stated on their website. The charity has previously received a fellowship grant from Soros' Open Society Foundation, as reported by Fox News.
The U.S. Attorneys Office in D.C. has expressed its disapproval of Nolan Jr.'s decision to release Moody on bail. In a court filing, the office argued that house arrest and GPS monitoring were inadequate measures to prevent Moody from posing a threat to his community. The U.S. Attorney Office stated, "Everyone in the car the defendant targeted was at risk. Every resident of that street was at risk."
In response to these concerns, a spokesperson for the D.C. Courts told Fox News, "Judge Nolan conducted a very thorough hearing and spoke directly with the defendant about the consequences of violating any portion of the release conditions."
Denise Krepp, a former official in the Obama administration, criticized the decision in an interview with The Blaze, calling it "insanity." She questioned, "Where are the grown-ups? Where are the real grown-ups?"
