At the recent annual Media Awards event hosted by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) in New York City, Hollywood actress Jennifer Lawrence made controversial remarks about former Vice President Mike Pence.

Lawrence, who was there to support her "favorite musician and good friend" Orville Peck, recipient of the Vito Russo Award, made insinuations about Pence's sexuality and made crude comments about his anatomy.

Lawrence, expressing her support for the LGBTQ+ community, shared a personal anecdote. "I love the gay community. In fact, I was in love with a homosexual. I tried to convert him for years, but now I know conversion therapy doesnt work," she said. She then directly addressed Pence, who was not present at the event, saying, "Did you hear me, Mike Pence? I said conversion therapy isnt real, even though I know you think it worked on you. Hes in New York tonight. Hes receiving a Kids Choice Award for weirdest dick.

Pence, known for his socially conservative views, has never publicly or privately advocated for conversion therapy. The New York Times explains that the allegations of Pence's support for conversion therapy stem from a statement on his 2000 congressional campaign website. The New York Times explains that allegations of Pence's support for conversion therapy stem from a website for his 2000 congressional campaign. The site discussed the Ryan White Care Act, which provided federal funding for H.I.V. and AIDS patients.

The website stated, "Congress should support the reauthorization of the Ryan White Care Act only after completion of an audit to ensure that federal dollars were no longer being given to organizations that celebrate and encourage the types of behaviors that facilitate the spreading of the HIV virus. Resources should be directed toward those institutions which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behavior."

Despite speculation about Pence's sexuality, his political career appears to be over. Labeled a "traitor" for not challenging the 2020 presidential election results despite claims of widespread voter fraud, Pence has seemingly lost the support of a significant portion of the Republican base.

In March, Pence further distanced himself from the party by declining to back Donald Trump's campaign to oust Joe Biden from the White House.

"I will not be endorsing Donald Trump this year," Pence told Fox News. "Im incredibly proud of the record of our administration. But during my presidential campaign, I made it clear there were profound differences between me and President Trump on a range of issues, and not just our differences on our constitutional duties that I exercised on January 6th.
