In a recent interview with MSNBC News, Hillary Clinton, the former Secretary of State and First Lady, drew parallels between former President Donald J. Trump and Adolf Hitler.
This comparison comes amidst a series of unsuccessful legal actions against Trump by left-wing officials, employing lawfare tactics.
Clinton, who was defeated by Trump in the 2016 Presidential Election, likened the former president and his followers to the Nazi Germany of the 1930s. "The world has been here before. People did not take the kind of threats that we saw in the 1930s as seriously as they should, including American journalists," Clinton stated.
She further elaborated, "You know, people were taking at face value that this can be controlled. He may have said some outrageous things, but, you know, the institutions will hold." Clinton expressed her concern over the support Trump received from his political party and other enablers, who she believes prioritize future tax cuts over the sanctity of the Constitution.
Responding to Clinton's comments, Charlie Kirk, CEO and founder of the conservative activist group Turning Point USA, wrote, "As the law-fare fails, the fear mongering and the election rigging ramps up."
This is not the first instance of Clinton drawing a comparison between Trump and Hitler. In a November 2023 interview with ABCs "The View," she warned that another Trump presidency would be "almost unimaginable." She recalled her tenure as the US Secretary of State, during which she observed candidates who were "legitimately elected" but then attempted "to do away with elections and do away with opposition."
"You could see it in countries where, well, Hitler was duly elected, right?" Clinton said. "And so all of a sudden somebody with those tendencies, so dictatorial authoritarian tendencies, would be like, OK, were going to shut this down."
Clinton further warned, "Trump is telling us what he intends to do. Take him at his word." She had previously likened Trump's rallies to those held by Hitler in 2022.
