The proponents of the bill argue that TikTok's data collection on American users could potentially compromise national security. They also express concern about the app serving as a conduit for Chinese propaganda.
However, critics of the bill argue that it infringes on First Amendment rights and could significantly impact the livelihoods of businesses and influencers who rely on the app for income.
Four comedians have weighed in on the debate. Matt McClowry expressed skepticism about the platform's value, stating, "I dont think its a good platform. I dont think its healthy for people, but the only reason they want to ban it is because they cant monetize it in that short amount of time." Despite his reservations, he believes the app "shouldnt be banned."
Dave Landau concurred, questioning the rationale behind the ban. He argued, "Theres nothing behind [the ban] that is ... reasonable," especially given that "[China is] already taking our information" through other data sources.

Matt McClowry expressed concern about the arbitrary nature of content removal, stating, "You just have this AI robot arbitrarily deciding things are inappropriate, which is how we're gonna all die."
