The Democrats in Florida and throughout the country have done their best to try to cancel people, and now it is coming back to bite them.
The Western Journal reports that Florida state Sen. Blaise Ingoglia has introduced SB 1248, which Fox News has labeled the Ultimate Cancel Act..
The bills text reads that it would immediately cancel the filings of a political party, to include its registration and approved status as a political party, if the partys platform has previously advocated for, or been in support of, slavery or involuntary servitude.
If the law is passed, it will go into effect on July 1, 2023.
This means that any political party that has ever advocated for slavery at any point in its history would be disbanded in Florida. That is not good news for Florida Democrats.
Before the abolition of slavery in 1865, the Democrat Party advocated for slavery in its platform. Meanwhile, the Republican Party specifically opposed slavery.
If the bill is passed, it will ban the Democrat Party from Florida.
The reason behind filing this bill is that I was tired of leftist Democrats canceling people, places, and things for occurrences that happened centuries ago regarding slavery, Ingoglia told Fox News. He also said: I always thought it was hypocritical that members of the Democrat Party would cancel others under those auspices, fully knowing that under the same metric their party should be canceled itself for years and decades of advocating a pro-slavery position in their own party platform.
It is fair to say that many would like for the Democrat Party to be canceled in Florida and elsewhere, but there are many things to consider first.
The first thing to note is that it is unlikely that Ingoglia is genuinely trying to cancel the Florida Democrat Party. Instead, he seems to be trying to draw attention to the partys record.
The other thing to note is that even if this was a serious effort, it is very likely that the courts would strike the law down.
The final thing to think about is that even if the bill were passed and not thrown out by a court, it is possible that the Democrats could pull revenge moves on Republicans in other states. Thus, it may not be a serious attempt, and we may not honestly want it to be.
