Former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake has taken her election integrity lawsuit to the Arizona Supreme Court after her case was rejected by both the superior and appellate courts due to a lack of evidence.
Lake aims to overturn the results of the 2022 gubernatorial election, claiming that the appellate court had effectively ruled that "Arizona election laws don't matter."
Lake's lawyers argue that "public trust in elections is at an all-time low" and that decisions such as those handed down by the courts "only serve to further erode that trust." They also called on the Supreme Court to "grant review to correct this manifest error."
Lake's case centers around alleged election day malfunctions with Maricopa County's tabulator machines and violations in the custody of ballots discovered by whistleblowers. She has maintained that "there was malicious intent that caused disruption so great it changed the results of the election."
In her appeal, Lake's lawyers pointed out that "The Legislature did not intend election officials to have this degree of insulation." They further argued that "The undisputed facts, and the violations of law, show that Maricopa's 2022 election must be set aside. Trust must be restored."
Lake's legal team hopes that the Arizona Supreme Court will hear her case and correct the alleged errors that they believe occurred in the 2022 gubernatorial election.
