Hollywood producer and writer Laurence Andries has been formally accused by the police of drugging and sexually assaulting a man, as reported by ABC7 on Thursday.
The individual, who has chosen to be identified as John Doe, bravely shared his harrowing experience exclusively with ABC7, expressing his distress over the alleged incident. "I believe that he drugged one of my drinks, took me to his place and then I cant say the word. Im sorry, I cant say it," recounted John Doe.
According to the criminal complaint detailed by ABC7, Andries, known for his work on popular shows such as Six Feet Under, Blue Bloods, How to Get Away with Murder, and Supernatural, was described as a mentor to John Doe.
John Doe disclosed that his interactions with Andries took a dark turn in 2022 after a friendly meeting at a writers program led to an invitation for drinks. Despite John Doe's clear statements about his sexual orientation, he alleged feeling violated by Andries' actions.
In a statement to ABC7, John Doe expressed the impact of the incident on his life and career in Hollywood. Despite the potential repercussions, John Doe hopes to empower others to speak out against similar injustices. "You still have a voice. He did not take that away from you," John Doe emphasized.
Andries, aged 66, is facing serious charges, including sodomy and sexual penetration while the victim was unconscious, which could result in a 12-year prison sentence if convicted on all counts, according to ABC7.
