Inside The Shocking Verdict Armorer Found Guilty In Fatal 'Rust' Shooting, Is Alec Baldwin Next?

Former armorer Hannah Guttierez-Reed has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter in connection to the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film Rust in 2021.

While actor Alec Baldwin discharged the fatal shot, Guttierez-Reed, 26, was found to have neglected proper gun safety measures, leading to the fatal incident.

The jury in Santa Fe, New Mexico, deliberated for 2.5 hours before reaching a verdict, as reported by the Independent. Guttierez-Reed was acquitted of a charge related to evidence tampering.

Prosecutors contended that Guttierez-Reed jeopardized the safety of her colleagues through her negligence, bringing live ammunition onto the set unknowingly, which remained there for almost two weeks before the tragic event occurred.

Attorney Kari Morrissey criticized Guttierez-Reed for her careless handling of firearms, describing it as an "astonishing lack of diligence" and highlighting a series of safety breaches under her supervision.

In response, Guttierez-Reed's defense team argued that she was unfairly targeted as a "convenient scapegoat" in the aftermath of the incident.

Alec Baldwin, who also faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, is scheduled to stand trial in July.
