Former NFL player Derek Wolfe won Super Bowl 50 when he played with the Broncos.
Now, hes making headlines for another reason. Not only did he kill a mountain lion, but he did something that most people didnt care for.
Wolf reportedly received a phone call asking him if hed like to come to hunt the mountain lion, which had already killed two dogs and was hiding under someones porch. CBS reports, Late Tuesday night I got a call from @huntnest to see if I wanted to stalk a giant Tom (male mountain lion) who has been wreaking havoc in a rural neighborhood, Wolfe wrote on Instagram. He had already killed two of her dogs and was living under her porch, nervous about what he might do next.
Wolfe grabbed his bow and arrow and began the hunt. However, he didnt stop there. He came across a freshly killed deer that the mountain lion enjoyed snacking on.
According to Wolfe, the hunt was much more than he anticipated. The mountain lion wasnt simply waiting for him to get there under the porch.
Per CBS, We hiked straight up 2500ft and down the other side, then back up again, back down the other side and then back up to 9600ft. Exhausted, dehydrated, cramping, I drew back my @hoytbowhunting and sent an @sevrbroadheads through him, Wolfe wrote. Then I had to crawl back down the mountain with him to get him to the truck. I fell 10ft off a rock face on the way down, lol.
Wolfe does have a hunting license and killed the mountain lion legally. He recently spoke on a podcast, stating that he wanted to kill the lion for safety reasons. He also took the massive carcass back with him. However, a picture of him posing with the mountain lions carcass got him backlash.
One social media user says that mountain lions merely survive while humans are the ones that terrorize humans and animals. Others say this is a part of living in rural Colorado and told him to return to Kentucky. Other people quickly sided with Wolfe, with one social media user pointing out that Colorado controls the mountain lion population with hunting permits, like Wolfes one.
