According to a report by The New York Post, Joe Rogan is one of the most powerful men in America.
His podcast The Joe Rogan Experience is ranked the No. 1 podcast globally, which says a lot about Rogans popularity.
In the background, rumblings are ongoing about Rogans future with Spotify as a podcaster after the $200 million 3-year deal he made with the company in 2020 is running out of time. So far, The Post notes, Rogan wont confirm if the gig is up, but his contract wont end this year.
Rogan has the best of both worlds with Spotify. The non-exclusive deal means the company has no say over the content Rogan chooses to provide, but he must follow the companys guidelines.
The outspoken podcaster has a history of saying what he thinks. Rogan has said in the past that I talk s--- for a living. Rogan has commented about the COVID vaccine, saying healthy young Americans didnt need to worry about getting the jab. He has commented on transgender people and used the N-word.
Rogans latest comments drew criticism from Spotify staffers. On Joes podcast, he said, The idea that Jewish people dont like money is ridiculous. Thats like saying Italians arent into pizza. Its f---ing stupid.
Director of the Anti-Defamation League Jonathan Greenblatt told The Post: Its disturbing that, at a time of rising anti-Jewish violence, when growing numbers of Americans believe in anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, Joe would use his immense platform to spew anti-Semitic tropes about Jews and money. For centuries, people have used these longstanding tropes to spread vicious lies about the Jewish people."
Rogans estranged dad had a message for his son, saying, Who are you to judge people? Who made you God last night? Rogan Sr. told The Post, Im not prejudiced. Everybody has got to live, and I teach my kids that. This bothers me. The money went to his head, and his head got bigger than his hat - he fools people."
On the other hand, Spotify executives have stuck by Rogan. A Spotify source said, His comments did adhere to the companys policies, noting not everyone inside the company was happy with the current policy.
During a March 2022 episode, Rogan said, I will quit. If it gets to a point that I cant do it anymore, I have to do it in some sort of weird way where I walk on eggshells and mind my ps and qs, f--k that.
