Mark Wahlberg, the famous Hollywood actor, has stated that being a person of faith is not popular in Hollywood.

Still, he says this will not deter him from continuing to express and practice his faith while working in Hollywood. He says that this is an essential message to put out on Ash Wednesday.

Fox News reports that many people recognize Wahlberg for his acting and entrepreneurial work, but not everyone knows he is also a devout Catholic. He believes in his faith, and he recently spoke about his faith on an appearance on the news program Today, saying:

[Faith] its everything, its afforded me so many things God didnt come to save the saints, He came to save the sinners We want to be better versions of ourselves, and through focusing my faith, its allowed me to do that.

He has always stated that he is open about his faith but doesnt intend to try to enforce his faith on anyone else. He wants to make sure people understand the kind of options that are available to them out there. After all, he encourages people to learn about the Catholic Faith if they want to, but he doesnt feel like forcing it on others makes sense.

He said the following about it: Its a balance. I dont wanna jam it down anybodys throat, but I do not deny my faith. Thats an even bigger sin, and You know, its not popular in my industry, but, you know, I cannot deny my faith. Its important for me to share that with people.

The actor continued, saying, I have friends from all walks of life and different faiths and religions, so you know, its important to respect and honor them as well.

He appeared on the Today show with ashes in the shape of the cross on his forehead. This tradition is done in the Catholic Church on Ash Wednesday. It is symbolic and shows that the person with this on their forehead has participated in the Ash Wednesday service. It is easy to see when someone has these types of ashes on their forehead. That is something that made Wahlbergs message even more visually apparent. It is a great way to get the word out about the faith that one chooses to practice, and that is precisely what Wahlbergs appearance on the Today Show indeed did.
