In a recent development, the Israeli Air Force has taken an unconventional approach to warn residents in central Gaza about the alleged atrocities committed by Hamas.
The Air Force dropped leaflets, designed in the style of newspapers, urging Palestinians to acknowledge the harm inflicted by Hamas, the organization that the Israeli government labels as a terrorist group.
The leaflets, titled "The Reality" and written in Arabic, were reported by the Times of Israel, citing the Kan public broadcaster. The leaflets accused Hamas of causing harm to the Palestinian people, stating, "Hamas kills [their] loved ones. They destroyed everything good, beat you and tortured you, abandoned your families in the streets, and they are hiding in tunnels." The leaflets further questioned the silence of the Palestinians, emphasizing that their future lies in their hands.
The leaflets also highlighted the European Union's sanctions against Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and the increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza. A section of the leaflets seemed to counter various claims made by Hamas leaders, although the specific statements addressed were not clarified.
This unconventional approach comes amidst growing criticism against Israel's ground assault on Gaza, which was initiated in response to an attack on southern Israel by alleged Hamas terrorists on October 7.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Health Ministry, reportedly under the control of Hamas, has claimed that over 27,000 Palestinians have been killed in the past four months. The ministry reported that at least 107 people were killed and 165 injured in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours. However, these figures could not be independently verified, and it is worth noting that Hamas does not differentiate between civilian casualties and its own fighters.
