Montana Senator Announces Bid For Re-Election, Expected To Be One Of 'Most Watched' Races In 2024

A news flash from Fox News shares the announcement that Senator Jon Tester has tossed his hat into the political ring along with others planning to run for re-election in 2024.

Tester, who represents Montana, is a three-time senator, so running and winning isnt new territory for the Senator who represents the Democratic party.

The seat Tester wants to sit in, again, is critical to the Democratic party in the upcoming election if they are to maintain control of the Senate. Tester said, I know that people in Washington dont understand what a hard days work looks like or the challenges working families are facing in Montana. Montanans need a fighter holding Washington accountable.

Montana is a red state where former President Trump outdid Biden in 2020 by 16 points. The state is a target for Senate Republicans who have their eye on winning back the chamber in the 2024 election. To get a jumpstart, the National Republican Senatorial Committee has begun its campaign by placing digital ads targeting Tester.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee ads are explicit in their statement, which says, retire or get fired.

In a previous statement, NRSC chairman Steve Daines said Tester should be in for a brutal two years of campaigning if he decides to run for re-election.

On Wednesday, Tester said, Its official. Im running for re-election. Montanans need a fighter that will hold our government accountable and demand Washington stand up for veterans and lower costs for families. I will always fight to defend our Montana values. Lets get to work.

Republicans retaliated just minutes after Tester announced he would be a candidate for a fourth term. NRSC spokeswoman Maggie Abboud commented on Wednesday, saying, The Tester-Biden agenda has given Montanans rising crime, higher taxes, and an open southern border that is flooding communities with deadly Fentanyl. Montanans are going to send Joe Bidens favorite Senator packing in 2024.

In 2018, Republican Representative Matt Rosendale ran against Tester. He lost by a slim margin and is interested in a rematch. Representative Ryan Zinke told The Associated Press he is also interested in running for the critical seat.
