In a video shared by the State of Israel on Twitter, a Gazan man was captured expressing his frustration towards Hamas leaders in Hebrew, during an interaction with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The man was reportedly en route to Rafah when the incident occurred.
The footage reveals the man vehemently criticizing the terrorist organization in Hebrew, while seemingly urging the IDF to maintain their presence in the area. Amidst the muddy road, he and others were seen moving their possessions.
"We must take down the heads of Hamas. Don't leave this place! People are stupid, and do not understand anything," he voiced, as per the IDF's translation. The man then gestured towards a cart filled with belongings, seemingly questioning the soldiers about their fate.
The man's anger was directed towards Yahya Sinwar and Ismail Haniyeh, leaders of Hamas. "This is all because of Sinwar and Haniyeh. Haniyeh eats at restaurants in Turkey and Sinwar eats hidden underground. They eat meat while we eat bullets," he exclaimed, as per the translation, before allegedly cursing Hamas.
Sinwar is the head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, while Haniyeh leads Hamas' political bureau abroad.
This man's criticism of the terror organization is not an isolated incident. Lt. Col. Avichay Andraee, an IDF spokesman, shared a video of a protest on January 24, where Gazans were seen demanding that Hamas release its hostages to Israel. Another protest in Khan Yunis, reportedly better attended, called for a ceasefire agreement between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Sinwar. "Enough with war and enough with destruction," the protesters were reported to have said, as per a translation provided by Kann News in Hebrew.
Andraee also tweeted a video on January 25, showing a protest where participants were chanting for peace while holding empty water jugs, according to a translation.
However, protests against Hamas are uncommon in the Gaza Strip, as freedom of expression is not respected by the organization. The extent of the dissatisfaction with Hamas remains uncertain, as reported by The Jerusalem Post.
