Comedian Bobby Lee, recognized for his roles in MADtv and A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas, recently confessed to a shift in his political stance during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
Despite not being a typical conservative, Lee admitted to finding himself in the political middle.
The podcasts host, Joe Rogan, lauded the regular people of Boston and confessed to his previous existence within the blue bubble. He acknowledged his past as a one hundred percent left-leaning person who lived in Los Angeles, who never cast a Republican vote, particularly on social issues. However, he admitted to a slightly more conservative approach to financial matters.
Rogan criticized Californias current state, describing it as having gone full communist and being out of its mind. He specifically condemned the states insane law enforcement policies, such as no-cash bail and lenient theft prosecution, which he believes have led to the downfall of cities like San Francisco.
Rogan and Lee agreed on the deterioration of San Francisco, with Rogan suggesting that the state could recover only with the intervention of a hardcore Rudy Giuliani type figure. However, he noted the reluctance of Californians to embrace such a change, characterizing them as peace-loving, granola-eating, mask-wearing individuals.
Lee confessed to his political shift, describing it as a shocking revelation. He attributed this change to liberals and expressed his inability to align with them any longer. He lamented the fact that people he once considered allies were now antagonistic towards him.
Rogan compared the current political climate to a cult, complete with excommunication, shaming, and groupthink. He criticized the left for attacking individuals not for their rational beliefs but in the manner of religious zealots. He cited the example of men claiming to be transgender to access womens public bathrooms, emphasizing that while transgender people are real, so are predators.
Rogan and Lees comments resonate with conservatives who, despite potentially disapproving of certain humor levels, uphold the comedians right to free speech. In contrast, the left appears to tolerate vulgarity and mockery of organized religion but vehemently opposes any questioning of their doctrines or sacred beliefs. Any humor involving race, gender, or non-heterosexuality can potentially end a comedians career.
In a conversation with comedian Rob Schneider on the U.K. talk show The Dinosaur Hour, veteran British comedian John Cleese, famous for his roles in Monty Pythons Flying Circus and Fawlty Towers, likened the new woke ideology to totalitarianism. Schneider agreed, describing it as a closed system of thought or fundamentalism that rigidly dictates the world's perception.
