WATCH: Man Shot By Kyle Rittenhouse Files 'Unexpected' Lawsuit

A lawsuit alleging Kyle Rittenhouse shot a man in the arm during the Kenosha riots in 2020 has been filed, as well as police and officials in Wisconsin, as Fox News Digital has discovered exclusively.

Gaige Grosskreutz, who stated that he aimed a gun at Rittenhouse before the then-minor shot Grosskreutz and two others, is demanding "damages for emotional distress, humiliation, loss of enjoyment of life, and other pain and suffering on all claims," as well as punitive damages.

Fox News Digital reports that the lawsuit argues the following: "Astonishingly, the Kenosha Police Department, Kenosha County Sheriffs Department, their supervising officials and police officers, and law enforcement officers from surrounding communities did not treat Defendant Rittenhouse or any of the other armed individuals patrolling the streets as a threat to the safety of themselves or the citizens they were sworn to protect."

Attorneys Kimberley Motley of Motley Legal Services and E. Milo Schwab of Ascend Counsel filed a lawsuit on Feb. 14, stating, "Instead, the law enforcement Defendants deputized these armed individuals, conspired with them, and ratified their actions by letting them patrol the streets, armed with deadly weapons, to mete out justice as they saw fit."

Rittenhouse declared to Fox News Digital that he is ready to "prove my innocence again", but noted that it is likely to cost a considerable amount.

In August 2020, three people were shot by Rittenhouse, one of them being Grosskreutz. The defense team for Rittenhouse argued that the act was in self-defense, resulting in the then-teenager being acquitted of the homicide charges brought against him.

In the aftermath of the August 23 shooting of Jacob Blake, Grosskreutz attended the demonstrations. Rittenhouse also showed up that evening with a semi-automatic rifle resembling an AR-15, claiming he was there to guard property against any possible harm occurring as a result of the protests.

Two counts of homicide, one count of attempted homicide, and other charges were brought against Rittenhouse in connection with the fatal shooting of Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, as well as the injury of Grosskreutz.

At the trial, it was testified to by Grosskreutz that he had his own gun pointed at Rittenhouse when the teenager shot him in the arm.

At the trial, Grosskreutz declared that while he was advancing towards Rittenhouse, his hands were raised, and there was no plan to fire on the youth when he aimed the gun at him.

"Thats not the kind of person that I am. Thats not why I was out there," he said when asked why he didnt shoot Rittenhouse first. "Its not who I am. And definitely not somebody I would want to become."

In November 2021, Rittenhouse was found to be not guilty.

Rittenhouse mentioned to Fox News Digital that it was surprising that he was filing a lawsuit because he previously admitted to pointing a gun in his face and pursuing him.

The legal action alleges that Grosskreutz was advancing with both hands raised in an effort to de-escalate the situation and put a stop to the shooting.

The lawsuit states, "Defendant Rittenhouse instead shot Mr. Grosskreutz in the bicep, leaving a gaping wound. Thankfully, Mr. Grosskreutz did not die that day. "But he must live with the physical and emotional wounds inflicted by Defendant Rittenhouse and the Defendants who deputized and enabled him. The conduct of the Defendants in this case directly caused Gaige Grosskreutzs injury."

The complaint includes the city of Kenosha, Kenosha County, five other surrounding counties, law enforcement personnel, ex-Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth, and former Kenosha Police Chief Daniel Miskinis as defendants.
