False Endorsement Claim: And It All Came Down To Governor Abbott

Republican Texas state Rep. Drew Darby has come under scrutiny after it was discovered that his website falsely claimed an endorsement from Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

The discrepancy was brought to light by school choice activist Corey A. DeAngelis, who called it a "lie" and shared the information on Twitter.

Darby's opponent, Stormy Bradley, was endorsed by Governor Abbott in early December 2023. Abbott specifically cited Bradley's commitment to providing school choice options for Texas families as the reason for his endorsement.

It is worth noting that Abbott had previously endorsed Darby in past election cycles, as stated in a 2019 statement published on GregAbbott.com.

As of now, Darby's official website still maintains the false claim of an endorsement from the Texas governor. While the campaign lists endorsements from various organizations such as the National Rifle Association, Texans for Life Committee, and the Texas Wildlife Association, Abbott is the only individual endorsement mentioned.

Stormy Bradley is a strong supporter of former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential race.
