In a remarkable display of political prowess, former President Donald J.
Trump clinched a resounding victory in the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday night, setting a new record in the process.
Noted pollster Rich Baris highlighted that Trump shattered the previous record for the highest number of votes cast for a presidential candidate in a New Hampshire primary, a record previously held by Bernie Sanders in 2016.
Sanders had amassed 152,193 votes in 2016, a tally that significantly outperformed Hillary Clinton. As of the time of reporting, Trump had garnered 152,565 votes, with 13% of the votes still to be counted.
Trump's victory over his sole remaining competitor, Nikki Haley, further cements his status as the unchallenged front-runner in the race for the GOP's 2024 presidential nomination. The final margin of Trump's victory was yet to be confirmed as of late Tuesday night, but the results from the Granite State represent a significant blow to Haley's efforts to assemble an anti-Trump coalition of independents and Democrats.
In the wake of Trump's victory, Haley reaffirmed her commitment to the race, reassuring her supporters that "this race is far from over."
Trump, however, was quick to criticize Haley, stating, "somebody ran up to the state all dressed up nicely when it was at seven, but now I just walked up its at 14," referring to his lead over Haley in the election results. "She was up and I said wow, shes doing like a speech like she won. She didnt, she lost."
Trump confidently projected his campaign's trajectory, stating, "We'll head out to South Carolina where I think we're going to win easily. I think we're 50 points up on a person that was governor, that tells you something, but I felt I should do this because I find it a life you can't let people get away with bullsh*t, okay. And when I watched her, the fancy dress, it probably wasn't so fancy, come up I said what is she doing? We won. And she did the same thing last week."
Interestingly, a staggering 70% of Haley's voters were not registered Republicans, indicating a potential shift in party alliances.
