Following a resounding victory for former President Donald Trump in the New Hampshire GOP primary on Tuesday, Ronna McDaniel, the beleaguered Chair of the Republican National Committee, has called on Nikki Haley to withdraw from the race.
In a conversation with Fox News, McDaniel expressed her doubts about Haley's prospects, stating, "Looking at the math and the path going forward and I don't see it for Nikki Haley." She acknowledged Haley's efforts, saying, "I think she's run a great campaign," but emphasized the need for unity within the party.
McDaniel conveyed a clear message from the voters, saying, "We need to unite around our eventual nominee, which is going to be Donald Trump, and we need to make sure we beat Joe Biden." She stressed the urgency of the situation, noting, "It is 10 months away till the November election, and we can't wait any longer to put our foot on the gas to beat the worst president, to beat a president that's kept our borders open, allowed fentanyl to pour through, allowed inflation to go rampant."
McDaniel further criticized Biden, saying, "He is hurting the American people and we need to do everything we can to unite so that we can defeat him."
Trump emerged victorious in the New Hampshire primary, securing approximately 52 percent of the vote compared to Haley's 46 percent.
In her concession speech, Haley extended her congratulations to Trump, saying, "I want to congratulate Donald Trump on his victory tonight. He earned it." She also challenged him to a debate, stating, "Trump claims he'd do better than me in one of those [mental] tests ... If he thinks that, then he should have no problem standing on a debate stage with me." Haley added that "most Americans do not want a rematch between Biden and Trump."
Following his victory, Trump criticized Haley in Nashua, New Hampshire. He said, "...somebody ran up to the state all dressed up nicely when it was at seven, but now I just walked up its at 14," referring to his lead over Haley in the election results.
Trump continued, "She was up and I said wow, shes doing like a speech like she won. She didnt, she lost." He expressed confidence about his prospects in South Carolina, saying, "We'll head out to South Carolina where I think we're going to win easily. I think we're 50 points up on a person that was governor, that tells you something, but I felt I should do this because I find it a life you can't let people get away with bullsh*t, okay. And when I watched her, the fancy dress, it probably wasn't so fancy, come up I said what is she doing? We won. And she did the same thing last week."
