Fox News Host Laura Ingraham Urges DeSantis And Haley To Make Way For Trump's Dominance In The Republican Party

Laura Ingraham, a prominent host on Fox News, has publicly called on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and neoconservative candidate Nikki Haley to withdraw their candidacies and endorse former President Donald Trump for the benefit of the Republican party.

During the Tuesday episode of her show, "The Ingraham Angle," Ingraham urged the two potential contenders to step down. She praised DeSantis for his commendable performance in the Iowa caucuses, where he secured second place. However, she noted that despite his efforts, DeSantis trailed Trump by approximately 30 points.

Ingraham argued that Trump's influence is too potent for any other candidate to secure the nomination in this election cycle. She lauded DeSantis's hard work and youth, suggesting that his future within the Republican party could be promising, especially with three more years as Florida's governor. However, she was firm in her belief that his chances of becoming president this time around are slim.

"Trump is simply too powerful and has endured too much," Ingraham stated, emphasizing that DeSantis's continued criticism of Trump on the campaign trail could potentially harm his political future. She argued that DeSantis gains nothing from his current strategy and that it's time for him to endorse Trump.

Ingraham's comments have sparked discussions about the potential benefits of DeSantis's withdrawal for Haley. Haley appears to be more popular among Democrats and the media than with Republican voters. A poll conducted by NBC News, the Des Moines Register, and Iowa pollster Selzer & Co. revealed that Haley's supporters in Iowa are twice as likely to vote for Joe Biden than Donald Trump if she fails to secure the Republican nomination.

The poll asked likely Iowa caucus-goers who they would vote for in the general election if Trump was the Republican nominee. The results showed that 11 percent of Republican caucus-goers would switch their vote to Biden if Trump was the nominee. However, among Haley's supporters, this figure rose to a staggering 43 percent. Only 23 percent of Haley's supporters said they would vote for Trump over Biden. In contrast, 64 percent of DeSantis's supporters would vote for Trump if he was the nominee.

NBC News reported that these findings underscore Haley's appeal to independents, Democrats, and Republicans who are uncomfortable with Trump's dominance of the GOP. The poll also revealed that three-quarters of caucus-goers believe Trump can defeat Biden despite his legal challenges. However, a majority of Haley's supporters think it will be nearly impossible for Trump to win.

In 2019, after leaving her position in the Trump administration, Haley was elected to Boeing's board of directors. At that time, her net worth was less than $1 million. However, reports emerged that Haley's fortune increased eight-fold to $8 million after leaving the Trump administration, according to the New York Post. Shortly after, the former UN ambassador purchased a $2.4 million waterfront estate on Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
