Israeli police have reported that two individuals are now in custody following a "terror attack" in the city of Ra'anana, just north of Tel Aviv.
The attack has resulted in the death of one person and at least 16 others injured. According to police, the incident began when an assailant stabbed a woman and then proceeded to carjack her vehicle. Avi Biton, the Central District commander, later announced that two individuals from the same family in the Hebron area of the West Bank, who worked nearby, were apprehended.
The Israel Police released a statement saying, "Following an unusual incident currently in Ra'anana, police forces are on the scene, and the circumstances of the incident are being investigated. The public is asked to be vigilant and obey the police officer's instructions." The Jerusalem Post reported that at least 16 people have been injured in the attacks, with one woman who was critically injured later succumbing to her injuries at a local hospital. Three others are said to be in serious condition.
Images taken at one of the scenes show a heavily damaged white sedan that appeared to have been driven into a bus stop. As a precautionary measure, schools in the area where the attacks occurred have been placed on lockdown.
