On Tuesday, Whoopi Goldberg, a co-host of ABC's "The View," issued a stark warning to her fellow co-hosts and viewers, suggesting that a failure to vote for Biden could be interpreted as support for President Trump's alleged intentions to suppress journalists and the LGBTQ+ community.
Goldberg characterized Trump's stance as, "Im going to take all the journalists, Im going to take all the gay folks, and Ill move you all around and disappear you."
The co-hosts engaged in a heated discussion about the sentiments of young Democratic voters towards their party and the potential impact of America's support for Israel during the Gaza conflict on their voting behavior.
Sunny Hostin, another co-host on the show, highlighted a significant divide among young voters concerning the Israel-Hamas conflict. She stated, "there is this stark divide among young voters on the Israel-Hamas war," and further asserted that "the voting bloc who really supported Biden in 2020 over climate change says that the war in Gaza is an environmental justice issue, and theyre gonna abandon Biden over it."
Goldberg criticized the media for downplaying Biden's popularity among voters, particularly young adults. "Beware the media," she cautioned. "That voting bloc has lots of issues that they want addressed, they do, and they have every right to demand that from whoever the candidate is gonna be."
Goldberg emphasized the importance of individual voter decision-making, stating, "Only you know what youre doing. You know whats upsetting you, and you will discuss it when you go and make your vote." She expressed a collective desire for candidates to address issues that matter to voters, regardless of their political leanings.
Later in the discussion, Goldberg contended that not supporting Biden's re-election would essentially be a vote for right-wing authoritarianism. She reiterated her earlier characterization of Trump's intentions, stating, "Or do you want somebody who says, Im going to be, on day one, Im going to be a dictator. Who says it to you, tells you, Im going to put you people away. Im going to take all the journalists, Im going to take all the gay folks, and Ill move you all around and disappear you."
Goldberg concluded by challenging viewers to consider the kind of country they want, stating, "If thats the country you want, you know who to vote for. If thats not the country you want, you have to make a decision."
