A tragic incident unfolded outside a Giant supermarket store in Maryland on Saturday, as a man was accused of killing his estranged wife.
Frederick Owusu Sakyi, a 33-year-old resident of Walkersville, was apprehended by deputies from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office later that evening. The shooting occurred at approximately 11:11 p.m. at the Urbana Giant located at 3530 Sugarloaf Parkway, according to authorities.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered the lifeless body of the victim in the parking lot. It was later determined that the deceased was Sakyi's estranged wife, and the couple was in the midst of a divorce. The Frederick County Sheriff's Office revealed that there had been a history of protective orders and stalking by Sakyi.
Following his arrest, Sakyi was taken into custody and booked into the Frederick County Adult Detention Center. The Giant location where the incident occurred expressed their cooperation with law enforcement in a statement to FOX 5 DC. They described the event as "tragic" and emphasized their commitment to the safety and well-being of their customers and associates.
