Trump Launches Newest Nickname For Rival Nikki Haley, Just Ahead Of The New Year

Former President Trump has unveiled a new nickname for potential rival Nikki Haley in the 2024 presidential race, dubbing her "Nikki New Taxes."

The former President's campaign committee sent out an email on Friday, titled "KISS OF DEATH: Nikki New Taxes," which criticized Haley's record and accused her of showing "total disdain for the working class." The email highlighted Haley's support for a 60% increase in the state gas tax in South Carolina and a 20% increase in the state sales tax, which Trump's campaign claimed made her an enemy of the working class and an ally of lobbyist cronies.

The email also labeled Haley a "RINO" (Republican in name only) for her support of entitlement reforms that would allegedly harm Medicare and Social Security.

Trump's use of nicknames to attack his opponents is not new. During the 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns, he famously referred to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush as "Low energy" and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz as "Lyin Ted." In the current race, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has been dubbed "Ron DeSanctimonious" by Trump. In his 2020 contest against President Biden, Trump repeatedly referred to him as "Sleepy Joe."

Haley, who previously served as the United States ambassador to the United Nations under the Trump administration, has been gaining ground on Trump in some polls. A recent survey showed her within four points of the former President in New Hampshire, a development that could pose a threat to Trump's dominance in the polls.
