Fetterman's Staff Speaks Out On What Lead To The Governor's Hospitalization For Clinical Depression

Senator Fetterman of Pennsylvania was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday for treatment for clinical depression.

Raw Story reports that the Senator was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for this ailment and that his chief of staff, Adam Jentleson, has been updating the media about the Senators condition.

That chief of staff said: While John has experienced depression off and on throughout his life, it only became severe in recent weeks.

An aide to Fetterman said that the Senator would remain in the hospital for a few weeks to get him back to a place where he could be released from the hospital. They said doctors are attempting to figure out what medications make the most sense for Senator Fetterman.

NBC News reported the following:

Based on conversations the aide has had with the senator about the challenges hes faced post-stroke, the aide described Fettermans struggle adjusting to his new reality and said the senator has wrestled with questions about his self-worth.

NBCs Dasha Burns issued a series of Twitter posts about the situation. Many others had previously criticized her for having questioned if Fetterman was healthy enough to take on the job of being a Senator in the first place. She reported the following:

A senior aide tells me both the staff and Fetterman himself were taken by surprise by the severe onset of depression.

The aide also says this hasnt compromised his ability to do the job going forward, and he will be back to work once he has taken care of his mental health.

Fetterman had already suffered a stroke earlier in the same year he ran for Senate. He was still recovering from that stroke as he ran for election. Fetterman won the race in Pennsylvania over Dr. Oz. However, he is now suffering from other health concerns that make some wonder if he can continue to serve as Senator for Pennsylvania.
