New Stats Reported: NYC Criminal Justice Reforms Have Only Done More Damage, Look At These Numbers

Criminal justice reforms do not seem to have had the impact that some in New York would have liked for them to have had.

This is the news from the NY Post as they look at some of the latest statistics and figures coming out of the state. They report that a 17-year-old girl was recently shot near her Brooklyn public school. However, she is just one of many Empire State black victims. Black victims have been on the rise since the various reforms were implemented.

The New York Post also reports that young people are the victims of crimes more and more as well. Last year, 78 more teenagers were shot in New York City than had been shot in the last five years combined. The New York Post also reports that the number of black victims who die due to gun violence is also rising. Sadly, 80% of the victims found in studies were black. Thus, minorities are bearing the brunt of increased crime throughout the city despite reforms.

Sadly, many dealing with a crime have turned a blind eye to the problem. They almost seem like they would prefer to pretend there werent significant gulfs between the races regarding who ends up as a victim. This is a core problem that is being ignored, and the failure to address it will only continue to grow into a more significant problem moving forward.

Albany County District Attorney David Soares gave testimony about some of the crime data that shows that the black community is being victimized far more than other groups. Soares offered the following take in his testimony: These reforms have had their most devastating impact on black and brown communities, and If you take an honest look at the data the increases in crime, the victims of those crimes, and the location of the most violent crimes, the connection is quite clear.

Some officials are starting to say that they believe that the criminal reforms put in place in recent years are not only not getting the job done, but these reforms might be doing more harm than good. That is a severe concern to New York and other parts of the country that have been reforming their criminal laws and guidelines.
