Ahmad Musa Jibril, a radical Islamist preacher from Michigan, has recently incited American Muslims to wage Jihad against the West, attributing the alleged "genocide in Palestine" to the US administration led by President Biden, whom he derisively referred to as a "senile Pharaoh."
Jibril, 51, from Dearborn, disseminated videos on social media platforms in late November, urging Muslims in the US and other Western countries to reject what he termed as a diluted "American-Zionist Islam" that disregards the concept of Jihad, or "holy war."
"Yes, there is holy war in Islam, it is Jihad," Jibril asserted. "This may be a surprise to many who grew up in the West, especially those who were born or grew up post 9/11, because of the growing number of hypocrites, who are spreading the American-Zionist Islam, and it has nothing to do with Islam, that version of Islam is an Islam that suits the enemies."
Jibril's inflammatory rhetoric was brought to light on November 25th by the Middle East Media Research Institute, a Washington DC-based watchdog. Alberto Fernandez, vice president of the Institute, expressed his concerns to Fox News Digital about the dissemination of such "radicalizing" content on social media platforms, where it could potentially influence young minds.
"If that's the stuff that they're saying openly, what are they saying that is not open?" Fernandez questioned, referring to radical ideologues like Jibril.
In another video shared on a Telegram channel linked to Jibril, the extremist Palestinian-American preacher discussed the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. He suggested that it should serve as a "wake up call" for young American Muslims to start "normalizing" Jihad.
"Jihad must be a common, normal term on your tongues, on your social media, and in the mosques and elsewhere," Jibril insisted. He further proposed that Muslim mothers should "nurse their infants with the love of Jihad and the ambition to become a mujahid and a martyr."
"If you can't raise your child telling him you want him to be mujahid and martyr, then you are the root of the problem," he declared.
Jibril was unambiguous in his criticism of President Biden, whom he labeled a "terrorist," and his administration's policy towards Israel.
"You have seen that senile Pharaoh of our time, he has lost his mind of everything, except his loyalty and support for Jewish occupiers," the cleric fumed, adding that the US "is more to blame for the genocide in Palestine that the occupying Jews."
Jibril argued that the ongoing war in the Middle East, triggered by Hamas' attack on Israel on October 7, should make young people realize that "the infidel West, particularly the US, are the enemies of Muslims."
Fernandez cautioned that the war has been serving as an "accelerant" for spreading radical ideas about Islam.
"It accelerates something which is already happening, which is a kind of ideological war which is occurring. So, it drives interest, and it drives people becoming more extreme," Fernandez explained. "They'll use whatever is happening to promote their message."
Security experts had previously identified Jibril as one of the most influential online recruiters for ISIS at the onset of the terrorist group's rise nearly a decade ago, according to Newsweek.
Jibril, who advocates an ultra-conservative Salafist interpretation of Islam, had used his platform to encourage young people to travel to Syria and join ISIS.
One of the perpetrators of the fatal London Bridge attack in June 2017 was reported to have been influenced by Jibrils sermons. The attacker, along with two accomplices, ran over pedestrians and embarked on a stabbing spree in central London, resulting in eight deaths and dozens of injuries. ISIS later claimed responsibility for the attack.
In 2004, Jibril was found guilty of 42 criminal charges, including conspiracy, fraud, money laundering, and possession of firearms and ammunition. He was sentenced to over six years in a high-security federal prison, from which he was released in 2012.
