Hunter Biden, son of President Biden, recently shared his passion for painting in an interview with musician Moby on his podcast, "Moby Pod."
He revealed that he dedicates at least eight hours a day to his art, describing it as a form of meditation and a crucial part of his recovery journey.
"I paint at least eight hours a day, which I love," Biden shared with Moby. "It is my meditation. It is that space of freedom between stimulus and response, and the reason why I produce as much as I produce is because it is a burning need to stay on the canvas, stay focused on the canvas."
Biden's artistry is not a recent development. He has been painting his entire life and completes at least 50 paintings annually. Some of his works are displayed at the Georges Bourgeois Gallery in New York. However, he clarified that his art was never intended to be a commercial venture.
"I never intended for this to be a commercial enterprise, but I met George far before my dad had even announced that he was running wait, no, he had already announced, but no one thought that he was going to go the distance," Biden explained.
Biden's serious commitment to painting began when he was newly sober and living in California with his wife, Melissa. He describes his discovery of art as a miracle that had always been in front of him.
"The miracle was, is that it was the answer and it had been in front of me forever," he said. "I was so broken that literally I finally got to choose the life that I never had the strength or the courage to choose for myself before."
In the same week as the podcast release, Biden made a rare public statement outside the Capitol, rejecting House investigators' requests for a closed-door deposition as part of Republicans' ongoing impeachment inquiry.
"For six years, Ive been the target of the unrelenting Trump attack machine shouting. Wheres Hunter? he told reporters. Well, heres my answer. I am here.
