Hunter Biden, son of the current U.S. President, has allegedly expressed his consideration to depart from the United States if Donald Trump, the potential Republican candidate for the 2024 elections, secures a victory.
This revelation comes amidst Biden's ongoing legal struggles concerning tax fraud allegations and a congressional investigation.
Sources close to Biden, as reported by Politico, have disclosed that he has shared with a select group of family friends that he might contemplate exiting the country if Trump is re-elected for a second term. The potential Republican presidency could intensify the scrutiny on Biden and his family.
Biden's apprehensions about the future have not been confined to private discussions. During a recent podcast hosted by renowned singer Moby, he insinuated that Republicans were attempting to undermine him to target his father. "What theyre trying to do is theyre trying to kill me, knowing that it will be a pain greater than my father could be able to handle," Biden shared with Moby, "and so, therefore, destroying a presidency in that way."
The President has consistently shown concern for his beleaguered son, and as per Politico, communicates with him daily, extending his support. Biden was recently indicted by a federal grand jury on nine counts, including felonies, related to his tax returns. On Wednesday, he was scheduled to testify before the House Oversight Committee regarding allegations of questionable business transactions and influence trading involving him and his family.
However, Biden chose to forgo his deposition, instead issuing a statement on the Capitol lawn where he labeled the committee's investigation as "illegitimate." He stated emphatically to the press, "My father was not financially involved in my business, not as a practicing lawyer, not as a board member of Burisma, not in my partnership with a Chinese private businessman, not in my investments at home nor abroad, and certainly not as an artist."
In retaliation, the House has initiated proceedings to hold him in contempt of Congress, asserting that "we will not provide special treatment because his last name is Biden."
