Armed Employee Saves The Day: Thwarts Robbery Plot At California Jewelry Store

In Pleasant Hill, California, a group of would-be robbers were thwarted in their attempt to rob a jewelry store, thanks to the quick thinking and bravery of an armed employee.

The incident, which took place at the Estates Consignment Store on Monday, was reported by KRON 4 News.

The store's surveillance footage reveals a woman, suspected of orchestrating the entire plot, holding the door open for the masked intruders. As the security guard was held at bay by two of the men, the remaining three dashed towards the jewelry counters in the back of the store, anticipating a lucrative haul. However, they were met with an unexpected deterrent.

An employee, Albert Marcu, was seen on the footage confronting the intruders with his gun drawn, causing them to abandon their illicit endeavor and flee the scene in fear.

Marcu, a Romanian immigrant who escaped his homeland during the communist regime, expressed his disappointment in the escalating crime rates in the country that once offered him refuge. In an interview with KRON 4 News, he stated, "I had to take a stand. Too many things happened around us, and nothing is being done. I feel very, very bad for this country, which is one of the best countries in the world."

He further implored politicians to take action, saying, "We beg the politicians to help us small businesses and help communities all over California. Its getting out of hand."

Marcu also revealed that a vast majority of his customers, approximately 99%, have expressed their concerns about the rising crime rates in Pleasant Hill. These concerns are not unfounded, as data indicates a 13.5% increase in property crime rates in November compared to the same period last year.
