Former ICU Nurse's Disturbing 'Dexter Collection': 20+ Years In Prison For Assaulting Unconscious Patients

Christopher P. Lambros, a 62-year-old former intensive care unit (ICU) nurse, was sentenced to over 20 years in prison on Friday for sexually assaulting numerous unconscious patients in Colorado, as reported by Law & Crime.

Lambros was found guilty of six counts of felony attempted sexual assault, leading to a sentence of three years and eight months for each count, to be served consecutively. This results in an effective sentence of 22 years, with an additional mandatory two-year parole upon release. Lambros has already served 410 days since his arrest, according to the same source.

The court records, as cited by Law & Crime, reveal that Lambros disturbingly referred to his horrific actions as his "Dexter Collection," alluding to the television serial killer Dexter Morgan. During the sentencing, District Court Judge Gretchen B. Larson expressed her shock upon discovering that some of Lambros' victims had died in the ICU, possibly during or after the assaults, as reported by Colorado Public Radio.

Judge Larson stated, "This was the first I learned that some of the victims died," as quoted by Colorado Public Radio. "The idea of these women being molested as they took their last breath is haunting to the court."

Lambros' heinous acts were exposed when a coworker at St. Mary's Hospital reported witnessing Lambros taking explicit photos of a patient, according to Law & Crime. This initial report sparked a wider investigation, which uncovered a series of graphic images and videos on Lambros' phone. A forensic analysis revealed deleted files and recordings of Lambros engaging in sexual acts with unconscious patients.

The coworker who reported Lambros' behavior told the investigator that she had visited the ICU to monitor a patient, as per Law & Crime. During her visit, she noticed that the lights were off and the curtain was closed. Upon pulling back the curtain, she found the patient, who was unconscious, with her gown pulled up and the bed sheet pulled down, exposing her.

The affidavit states, as quoted by Law & Crime, "[The witness] said she saw a nurse, who she knew as Chris Lambros, with his head on the patient's stomach, with his face toward the patient's feet, with what she believed [was] his right arm extended, holding what she was sure was an unknown make/model cell phone in a black case, in a position as if he was taking a 'selfie' picture."
