In a recent broadcast of Fox News Channel's "Sunday Morning Futures," South Dakota's Republican Governor Kristi Noem voiced her concerns about China's increasing land acquisitions near U.
S. Strategic Air Force bases. She asserted that China's underlying agenda is to "destroy" the United States.
Governor Noem stated, "In over just a ten-year period, we saw China increase their purchases of American ag land increase by 5,300%. That means they aggressively changed their tactics to start buying up our land and theyre buying our land near our strategic Air Force bases, our national defense resources.
And theyre doing it in a way to continue to build this agenda to destroy the United States of America. They want to become the worlds dominating power. The only way that they do that is by eliminating the United States of America.
Noem, who has spent a quarter of a century working on food policy, also expressed her concern over China's strategic acquisitions in the American agricultural sector. She said, Ive watched them buy up our fertilizer companies, our chemical companies.
They own our processing systems. Now theyre purchasing up our land. And America needs to wake up and recognize that aggressive action needs to happen."
She emphasized the need for legislative intervention to curb this trend, stating, "Weve been working to address it in our state. But Congress needs to take action. Thats why Im supporting Chairman Gallaghers bill. Im asking him to put it in the National Defense Authorization Act.
It would make sure that any kind of land purchase near these national security efforts would be evaluated and that CFIUS would have the authority to go forward and make sure that it stops and does not happen. That impacts here in the United States.
Governor Noem's remarks underscore the growing concern among U.S. policymakers about China's strategic investments in the country, particularly in areas close to national defense resources. Her call to action signals the urgency of the situation and the need for a robust response to safeguard national security.
