Democratic Congresswoman Angie Craig allegedly faced some issues related to a crime committed against her in a DC elevator recently.
This is even though Congresswoman Craig had previously supported movements such as the defund the police movement. However, she appears to be changing her tune now that she is the individual who was the victim of a crime.
Fox News reports that one of Craigs top staffers, Liz Young, has been particularly anti-police and even called for the destruction of property on her Twitter account. This is based on a report by the Washington Free Beacon that they put out last year.
One of the worst examples of how anti-police Young is was when she responded to a report of deaths related to police in New York with the comment: Burn.It.All.Down."
This is considered extreme and far outside the mainstream of what most Americans consider appropriate. There are a lot of people who are highly concerned about the fact that such an individual would be welcomed on the staff of a sitting member of Congress.
Now, it seems like the Congresswoman is changing her tune a bit after being the victim of a recent crime in a DC elevator. Someone in a DC elevator allegedly attacked Craig, which appears to have made her reconsider the past anti-police stands that she had taken.
Craig said the following to CBS News: I got attacked by someone who the District of Columbia has not prosecuted fully over the course of almost a decade, over the course of 12 assaults before mine that morning.
She added the following: And so I think we have to think about how in the world we can make sure that were not just letting criminals out.
She also said that short sentences and other punishments do not deter repeat offenders.
She said the following: I mean, it wasnt even in every instance that he got 10 days or 30 days. Many times, the charges were completely dropped before any justice was achieved at all.
It seems like she is changing her tune now that she has personally suffered from a crime. That is an exciting change in her viewpoints now that this impacts her personally. Thus, other Democrats and anti-police politicians must understand that they might also change their tune if they are personally the victim of a crime.
