No She Didn't! Oh YES She Did: Fani Willis Sets Trump's Trial Date

On Friday, Georgia prosecutors requested a judge to schedule the trial of former President Donald Trump for August 5, 2024.

This proposed date is a few weeks prior to the Republican National Convention and three months before the 2024 election. The request was made by the prosecutors of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who justified the timing by referencing Trump's other trials in Washington, D.C., and Florida, scheduled for March and May respectively.

In a motion reviewed by The Gateway Pundit, the Georgia prosecutors wrote, The State requests that this Court schedule the remaining Defendants for a Final Plea hearing date of Friday, June 21, 2024, and to begin trial on Monday, August 5, 2024. This proposed trial date balances potential delays from Defendant Trumps other criminal trials in sister sovereigns and the other Defendants constitutional speedy trial rights.

The motion further explained that Trump is due for trial in the District of Columbia on March 4, 2024, and in the Southern District of Florida on May 20, 2024. Therefore, an August 5, 2024 start date for the Georgia trial is unlikely to be affected by these other trials. The proposed date also respects each defendant's constitutional right to a speedy trial, as it falls within a year of the indictment date, August 14, 2023.

DA Fani Willis has charged President Trump and 18 others with RICO and conspiracy charges for challenging the 2020 election results. A Fulton County grand jury returned a 41-count indictment in August, which included RICO and conspiracy charges against Trump. Critics argue that Willis has criminalized the First Amendment and likely coordinated with officials in Washington.

Willis initiated her investigation into Trump in February 2021, but charges were not brought until the 2024 election season was underway, raising questions about her motivations. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan expressed these concerns in a letter reviewed by The Gateway Pundit, stating, The timing of this prosecution reinforces concerns about your motivation. In February 2021, news outlets reported that you directed your office to open an investigation into President Trump Yet, you did not bring charges until two-and-a-half years later, at a time when the campaign for the Republican presidential nomination is in full swing.

In a related development, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich told Charlie Kirk that a reliable source informed him that Willis received a call from Washington, D.C., demanding she indict Trump to distract from the Weiss-Hunter Biden controversy. Gingrich claimed that the unidentified caller insisted Willis convene the grand jurors on a Monday afternoon and indict Trump later that evening.

Gingrich told Kirk, I am told by a reliable source that Friday evening that somebody from Washington called the District Attorney from Atlanta and said you have to indict on Monday we have to cover up all the mistakes we just made with Weiss, and she said apparently, my jurors arent coming back until Tuesday, and they said you didnt hear me, you have to indict on Monday, and she said, Theyre not going to be here before noonthis means its going to be 8 or 9 or 10 oclock at night!
