A tow truck driver, allegedly under the influence, wreaked havoc in downtown Los Angeles on Friday morning, crashing into multiple parked vehicles and leaving at least two people hospitalized, according to local reports.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. when the tow truck collided with a red Prius and a silver Prius, causing the truck to roll and slide on its roof before plowing into eight parked cars, as reported by NBC News. Both the driver of one of the cars involved in the collision and the tow truck driver were swiftly transported to the hospital in an unknown condition.

According to an on-scene Los Angeles Police Officer, "As far as our investigation shows right now, the tow truck was going northbound on Griffith through the intersection [of] Washington and collided with a red Prius... we believe that caused them to overturn," as reported by ABC7.

Eyewitness News captured video footage of the incident, revealing the tow truck plowing through several cars and causing a power line to fall, resulting in live wires and a shower of sparks across the street. The tow truck itself caught fire and sustained significant damage, as per ABC7.

A witness described the crash as sounding like an explosion, stating, "I got out of my house because we thought the car was going to go on fire and explode. It was just so scary," in an interview with the outlet.
