NYC 'Democratic Socialists' Under Fire For Labeling Pro-Israel Rally As 'Pro-Genocide March

The Democratic Socialists of America's New York City chapter has come under fire for its scathing criticism of the recent pro-Israel rally held in Washington, DC.

The group labeled the event a "pro-Genocide March," sparking a wave of backlash from politicians across the political spectrum.

In a social media post, the NYC-DSA stated, "Todays Pro-Genocide March in DC is a sad attempt to match the energy of millions who have marched, protested, phone-banked, and engaged in direct action to demand a Ceasefire and fight for a Free Palestine."

The group further claimed to have the support of the masses, while insinuating that the rally was backed by a diverse group of entities, including "Christian nationalist[s]," "Hitler apologist[s]," "corporate Democrat[s]," the Israeli president, and pro-Israel lobbyists.

The DSA defended its controversial post in a statement to The Post, explaining that the term "Hitler apologist" was aimed at Pastor John Hagee, a contentious figure who has previously made controversial remarks about Hurricane Katrina and Adolf Hitler. Hagee, who addressed the rally, declared that there was "no middle ground in this conflict," as reported by the Times of Israel.

A representative of the DSA expressed their disgust at Hagee's participation in the rally, stating, "We are appalled and disgusted that the march featured this far-right extremist who has made comments suggesting Hitlers action were Gods will."

However, the DSA's post drew sharp criticism from politicians on both sides of the aisle. Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, a Jewish Republican who attended the DC rally, told The Post, "The DSA is a vile, disgraceful group that is anti-American and antisemitic. Its a group that celebrates the evils of a terrorist organization, Hamas."

State Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (D-Bronx) echoed Blakeman's sentiments, accusing the DSA of trivializing the Holocaust and taunting Jews. "Comparing supporters of Israel to Hitler is beyond the pale. How low can you go? Shame on them," said Dinowitz, a Jewish Israel supporter who also attended the DC rally. He further accused the DSA of showing their "true colors" by participating in a pro-Hamas rally, labeling much of the group's actions as antisemitic.
