A U.S. military aircraft crashed on Friday evening during a training exercise in the eastern Mediterranean, according to the U.S. European Command (USEUCOMM)
The incident, described as an accident, occurred while an unspecified number of personnel were conducting the exercise. USEUCOMM stated that the cause of the mishap is still under investigation, but emphasized that it was not the result of hostile activity.
In a press release obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation, USEUCOMM provided further details about the incident. "On the evening of November 10, a U.S. military aircraft conducting training operations in the eastern Mediterranean suffered a mishap and went down," the press release stated. "The cause of the training incident is currently under investigation. However, we can definitively say that the aircraft sortie was purely related to training and there are no indications of hostile activity."
To respect the privacy of the families affected, USEUCOMM declined to release additional information about the personnel involved. The agency assured that more details will be provided as the ongoing investigation progresses.
