During an episode of "The View," co-host Whoopi Goldberg voiced her confusion on Tuesday regarding Senator Tim Scott, a Black Republican from South Carolina, and Senator Rick Scott, a Republican from Florida.
She questioned whether they were the same person when debating the possibility of Tim Scott running for President.
Goldberg started by saying, "Tim Scott, Black Tim Scott, right, because there are two Scotts and I don't know how to differentiate them without a picture," before Hostin pointed out that she was discussing Rick Scott and Tim Scott, not being able to tell them apart without an image.
Goldberg reiterated their names and inquired, "Tim Scott is Black, right? Okay."
On Tuesday, Scott took to Twitter to clarify the situation, writing that he and Rick Scott are not the same person. "You should get to know me," he suggested.
Goldberg, conversing with Alyssa Farah Griffin,"He's about to run, announce his running, they're going to be out of the woodwork, so don't just settle," noting that, as soon as one Republican candidate announced their candidacy, numerous other contenders are likely to emerge.
In December, Goldberg refused to back down from her controversial statement that the Holocaust had nothing to do with race, even though she had been suspended from her job for two weeks in February 2022 due to the comments.
In January, Whoopi raised the question of whether it would take white people being beaten up for meaningful police reform to follow the death of Tyre Nichols, while clarifying that she was not advocating for that.
Nikki Haleys announcement yesterday to run for presidency became the next focus of the conversation.
Farah Griffin expressed enthusiasm for Nikki Haley's announcement, noting that Haley was someone she could "believe in." Furthermore, the co-host felt that Haley was a much better option than President Trump.
On the show, Joy Behar attacked Haley for her backing of former President Donald Trump and Herschel Walker in the Georgia Senate race. She accused Haley of denying the election results before reading a statement that made clear that Haley has not questioned the 2020 election results.
On the show, Goldberg stated that Haley had been dormant until recently and has been in a state of slumber until now.
On a September episode of "The View," co-host Sunny Hostin labeled Nikki Haley a "chameleon" and implied that she changed her name to conceal her Indian background.
Hostin remarked, "I think if she leaned into being someone of color, this would be different," Hostin continued. "There's some of us that can be chameleons and decide not to embrace our ethnicity so that we can pass, that we dont have to go by.
