A high-ranking official within the mayor's office in Washington, D.C. has been apprehended by law enforcement on charges of domestic assault against his wife, according to police reports.
Dr. Christopher Rodriguez, who serves as the assistant city administrator and acting chief technology officer under D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, was taken into custody at his residence in Northwest D.C.
The incident, classified as a case of domestic violence, occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, as detailed in an official police report obtained by FOX 5 D.C.
During the altercation, Rodriguez allegedly forcefully pushed his wife to the ground amidst an ongoing argument between the couple. Although the responding officers offered assistance from DC Safe, the District's crisis intervention agency for domestic violence, Rodriguez's wife declined their support.
The police have charged Rodriguez with simple assault domestic violence, leading to his arrest. While the Mayor's Office has yet to respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment, they have confirmed to FOX 5 that Rodriguez has been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation.
