The latest special from the animated television series "South Park," which aired last week, has been lauded for its satirical take on the recent Hollywood trend of replacing white characters with minorities and women.
The special also critiques Disney's recent shift towards more socially conscious content and takes a swipe at Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, a move that was commended by actress Gina Carano.
Titled "South Park: Joining The Panderverse," the special revolves around a plot device called the "Pander Stone," which Disney purportedly uses to make universally appealing movies. In the special, Kennedy's character explains the Pander Stone as: "An ancient piece of artificial intelligence that could be used to make the same movies over and over again while appealing to absolutely everyone."
However, Kennedy's character succumbs to the pressure of creating pandering movie franchises and misuses the Pander Stone, inadvertently opening a portal to another dimension known as the "Panderverse." This alternate dimension introduces women of color who replace the beloved 4th-grade characters of "South Park."
As previously reported by Blaze News, "The 'South Park' special will mock Hollywood's attempt to score woke points by recasting roles with female and minority actors."
The special has been well-received online, with many cultural commentators expressing their admiration for its unfiltered critique. Eric D. July, founder of Ripperverse Comics, commented, "This new episode highlights all of the issues with modern entertainment. The hilarious part is that much of it isnt really presented as a joke. For the most part, theyre just funneling exactly what has happened through the South Park characters. Thats how much of a joke it actually is. My only gripe is that theyre a tad late to the party. This episode shouldve been made 3-4 years ago. During that time, we are all gaslit and told that this wasnt happening. Now its so bad that its undeniable."
The special also takes aim at Kennedy, with one character, Cartman, telling her, "Thats actually the best explanation Ive heard about why Disney movies all suck now." Kennedy's character concedes that Disney has been "lazy" in creating pandering content.
Carano, who was dismissed from the "Star Wars" show "The Mandalorian" following her controversial social media posts, praised creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker for their satirical portrayal of Disney's shift towards more socially conscious content, which she believes has negatively impacted its financial performance. A report published in June indicated that Disney's box office losses on its last eight studio releases totaled nearly $900 million.
On her X social media account, Carano criticized Kennedy, alleging that her former boss retaliates against those who oppose her. She suggested that Kennedy would embark on a revenge mission to "."
