Maine State Police have provided a detailed timeline of the tragic mass shooting that took place in Lewiston on Wednesday night, resulting in the deaths of at least 18 individuals and injuring 13 others at two separate locations.
The manhunt for the suspect, Robert Card, has intensified across the state.
The incident began at 6:56 p.m. when an unidentified man entered Just-In-Time Bowling, formerly known as Sparetime Recreation, on Mollison Street in Lewiston and opened fire. Multiple 911 calls confirmed the shooting. Just twelve minutes later, at 7:08 p.m., the Auburn Communications Center received multiple calls reporting that a man had entered Schemengees Bar and Grille Restaurant on Lincoln Street and began shooting.
In response to the emergency calls, multiple law enforcement agencies and emergency medical personnel were immediately dispatched to the two locations, which are approximately 4 miles apart. The swift response aimed to minimize further harm and provide aid to the victims.
At 8:06 p.m., the police released a surveillance photo of the alleged shooter to the media. The photo depicted a man wearing a brown sweatshirt, holding a rifle, and walking through doors adorned with bowling pins and a bowling ball.
Later in the evening, at 9:26 p.m., the Lewiston Police Department received a call identifying the man in the distributed photos as Robert Card, a 40-year-old resident of Bowdoin, Maine. This crucial information allowed law enforcement to focus their efforts on locating and apprehending the suspect.
At 9:56 p.m., the Lisbon Police Department notified the Lewiston Police that they had discovered Card's white Subaru at the Pejepscot Boat Launch in Lisbon. The vehicle was confirmed to belong to Card. Despite these developments, Card remains at large, prompting a massive manhunt involving over 350 law enforcement personnel from federal, state, and local agencies. Authorities emphasize that Card should be considered armed and dangerous.
According to a bulletin from Maine law enforcement shared with Fox News Digital, Card is a "trained firearms instructor" who recently reported mental health issues, including "hearing voices and threats to shoot up the National Guard Base in Saco, ME." Additionally, Card serves as a Petroleum Supply Specialist in the Army Reserve, having enlisted in December 2002. However, he has not been deployed for combat.
As of now, the names of the 18 victims have not been publicly released. Ten of the victims killed in the shooting remain unidentified. Police have confirmed that seven individuals, one female and six males, were killed at the bowling alley, which was hosting a youth league event at the time of the incident. Eight males were killed at Schemengees Bar and Grille. Tragically, three additional individuals succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to Central Maine Medical Hospital in Lewiston.
