In a recent interview concerning the forthcoming 2024 elections, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the globally recognized film star and former Republican governor of California, expressed his desire for "really young blood" to enter the presidential race.
This comes as the current frontrunners, President Biden, aged 80, and Donald Trump, aged 77, continue to dominate the political landscape.
Schwarzenegger shared his thoughts with the BBC, stating, "I just hope that America finds some really young blood." He further elaborated, "Because to me, it is a little bit odd that we are having a battle between people today in the late 70s and early 80s, rather than people in the 40s and 50s or maybe even younger, and have them have a chance at this great, great job."
Despite his Austrian birth, which makes him ineligible for the presidency, Schwarzenegger expressed his belief in his potential as a president. "I feel like I would make a great president," he said. "But I feel that, at the same time, everything Ive accomplished was because of America."
He went on to express his gratitude to the American people, saying, "America gave me so many opportunities and the American people were so [embracing], and they just received me with open arms. There was no one there that stopped me from my success. So the only thing that I cant do, which is run for president, Im not going to complain about that."
In an earlier interview with Rob Lowe on SiriusXM's "Literally! With Rob Lowe," Schwarzenegger offered a rather stark view of the Democratic party. "Ruin your cities," he responded when asked what it means to be a Democrat. "Thats what the Democrats would say. We are about ruining the cities. We want to f--- up every city in America. That seems to be the theme right now."
Schwarzenegger also appeared on "The View" earlier this month, where he advocated for comprehensive immigration reform and a secure border. "You have to really have comprehensive immigration reform, and you have to look at this immigration problem in a comprehensive way," he said. He emphasized the need for a secure border and the availability of visas for foreign workers, stating, "It is bogus, we need the workers here."
He criticized the current system, calling it "stupid" and arguing that it encourages illegal activity. "Why can we not come together, Democrats and Republicans and instead of using this issue always as a fundraising issue for the party to go and sit down together and really to do the service that theyre supposed to do?" Schwarzenegger questioned.
