Esteemed voice actress Tara Strong has been dismissed from her role in the independent animation series "Boxtown" following her expression of support for Israel amid its conflict with Hamas terrorists, shared via social media.
Strong, known for her work as the voice of iconic characters such as Batgirl, Harley Quinn, and roles in Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon shows like "The PowerPuff Girls," "Rugrats," and "Teen Titans," announced her termination on social media platform X last Friday. "Just found out on Twitter!" she wrote, "Fired for being Jewish. Glad I helped you get your kickstarter money. Please lose my email address & pray for my family in Israel and in Gaza. & #prayforpeace."
The announcement came in response to news that her role in "Boxtown" would be recast. Prior to her dismissal, Strong had been vocal in her criticism of the violent acts perpetrated by Hamas terrorists against Israeli civilians. On October 7, she penned a post stating, "For those who support the actions of #Hamas; when they infiltrate your hometown, on your soil, break into Jewish homes, raping, beheading innocent babies, will you applaud them? Will you wave their flag while they slaughter Christians & Muslims who dont believe their ideologies?
In a subsequent post, she expressed her dismay at the global response to these atrocities, writing, "Worlds gone crazy. People ARGUING online about whether or not the mass raping, shooting & kidnapping of innocent young women from around the world at a music festival is justified! Could happen at ANY music festival! Supporting terrorists empowers them & thats globally terrifying."
The decision to terminate Strong's role has sparked outrage among fans, who have taken to social media to criticize "Boxtown." On Monday, the official account of "Boxtown" on X confirmed that Strong's dismissal was a result of her recent online activity, specifically her posts concerning the Israel-Hamas conflict.
"This decision was due to a trend among Tara's recent online activity, including posts that promote controversial messages regarding the peoples of Palestine currently being affected by the ongoing Israel-Palestine crisis, the post read.
