In a recent interview, Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of a founding Hamas leader, has spoken out about his decision to renounce the terrorist organization, his conversion to Christianity, and his views on the current conflict in Gaza.
Yousef, who once acted as a spy for Israel and later sought asylum in the United States, expressed his thoughts on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict during an appearance on "FOX & Friends."
Yousef suggested a controversial strategy for Israel to deal with Hamas' underground tunnels in Gaza. "It sounds horrible, but I dont see any other option. The tunnels are interconnected, and gas could be one of the solutions. But this has to be in the right time. We cannot just rush into Gaza. Theres no modern army that is prepared for this type of war. And most importantly, we need to get the civilians out of the picture. As long as there are civilians there, then the operation might be incomplete," he stated.
Yousef also shared his personal journey of turning against his family and the Hamas organization, and his subsequent conversion to Christianity. "I was born at the heart of Hamas leadership and I know them very well. They don't care for the Palestinian people. They do not regard the human life," Yousef revealed.
He recounted his experiences in Megiddo Prison in 1996, where he witnessed the brutality of Hamas. "They killed so many Palestinian people at that point, and this is when I decided that I cannot be together with this movement."
Yousef's comments come in the wake of a recent massacre carried out by Hamas on Israeli border communities, resulting in the murder and dismemberment of civilians, including children, and the taking of hostages. Reports suggest that Hamas currently holds over 200 hostages in Gaza, a region facing severe shortages of food, water, and medicine.
Yousef further criticized Hamas, stating, "Hamas is not a national movement. Hamas is a religious movement with a goal to establish an Islamic state. They don't care for nationalism. Actually, they are against nationalism. But that's my understanding that they are using the Palestinian cause only to achieve their goals, so the long-term goal [is] transforming the Middle East and the world into an Islamic state."
He also pointed to Iran as the true instigator behind the scenes, citing the country as a known sponsor of Hamas. "Iran is the real master in this picture," Yousef said. "Hamas does not serve the Palestinian people, Hamas serves Iran. Those are the masters of Hamas. So their lie about nationalism, that they are a national movement They are using Palestinian people as a human shield."
Yousef concluded by advocating for the liberation of Gaza from Hamas, stating, "Israel is doing the Palestinian people the greatest favor by bringing Hamas down."
